How to be on your best in the case interview? Here are a few tips that may make a strong case for your candidature!
Simply put, acing a case interview can be summarized as follows:
BE LOGICAL:
Approach the test case logically. Understand the case and pin down the critical issues. That will give you a fair idea of what is expected of you. To comprehend the cases thoroughly ask questions that peel off the non issues. Summarize and present your conclusions.
HAVE A DIALOGUE:
Draw in the interviewer into your line of thinking by interacting with the interviewer. This will give the interviewer a fair idea of your thought process. Play with your conclusions. By that what we mean is to think out aloud all the possibilities. It will restrain your urge to jump to conclusions.
Remember the test case is a hypothesis. There is no right or wrong way to go about it. It is thrown at you to find out your thought process and analytical ability. It is also dry run to the kind of challenges you will be working at in that organisation.
